RockShox has released a Flight Attendant upgrade kit, enabling you to fit the brand’s   top-spec suspension technology to your bike.

Previously, Flight Attendant was only available on complete bikes. This is because the technology requires knowledge of a bike’s kinematics. RockShox now has this from a growing number of bikes and can therefore offer upgrade kits for the specific models.

There are three versions of the upgrade kit available, suitable forall-mountain bikes, trail bikes and enduro bikes, according to RockShox.

RockShox says the Flight Attendant upgrade kit will be available on the Pike, Lyrik, and ZEB suspension forks ranging from 140mm to 170mm in travel.

However, the forks are brand, model and year specific. RockShox is currently only offering a small range for Canyon, Specialized, Trek and YT bikes. RockShox says it is working with OE manufacturers to provide support as new bikes are released.

This kit is similar to the AXS upgrade kit from SRAM, which owns RockShox. RockShox says the kit is compatible with SRAM’s AXS ecosystem and can be connected to AXS controllers.

How does RockShox Flight Attendant work?

Three modes are available: Open, Pedal and Lock.
RockShox

RockShox Flight attendant uses sensors placed in the fork, rear shock and crank to determine whether the suspension should be open, locked out, or in pedal mode.

Accelerometers are used in the suspension components to pick up bumps and gradient changes, while a sensor within the crankset detects your pedal inputs.

RockShox has developed an algorithm which uses the information from these sensors to adjust the suspension position for a given terrain while you are riding.

The Flight Attendant uses the same AXS batteries found on SRAM groupsets.

The brand claims the system makes you more efficient and enables you to ride faster and with less distraction because you don’t have to adjust your own suspension.

The enduro kit includes a RockShox ZEB Ultimate Flight Attendant fork and a RockShox Super Deluxe Ultimate Flight Attendant rear shock. Currently, the enduro kit is only compatible with the Trek Slash (2021-2022), Specialized Enduro (2020-2022), and YT Capra 29” (2022).

All Flight Attendant upgrade kits will include a fender, a pedal sensor, two AXS batteries, and a charger.
